We always thought that stuttering only occur among adults but it seems that stuttering can be present as early as 2 or 3 years old and it is often referred to as early childhood stuttering.  It can be troubling and a concern for parents, some just disregard it and some worry that it may not be overcome.

Early childhood stuttering can really be bothersome, as much as possible we need to solve the problem as early as it occurred to avoid any worst problems in the future. It can be normal for a child to repeat syllables and use fillers like "ahmm and er". Parent should help their children speak as independent as possible, if constant fillers and repetitions are used then it is time to intervene and make everything right.

Stuttering can range from mild to severe so a parent must be in constant watch over their children. If facial grimacing is present as well as repeats sounds more than twice, it is time for a parent to seek the help of a speech pathologist or therapist to help him or her on this stuttering problem.

Help your child overcome this problem; let him or her work on his or her own pace. Let the child talk slowly, do not interrupt the child when he or she speaks and always be ready to reassure whenever your child makes a mistake or stutters. Sometimes neurogenic stuttering occurs, this happens because the brain cannot process the different speeches formed. Psychogenic stuttering on the other hand is the result of what the mind thinks. Heredity can also be a factor in stuttering.

Those were some of the causes of stuttering but whatever the cause may be, it is best to treat and stop early childhood stuttering as immediate as possible. Do not let your child suffer further.
