The latest LCD monitor and HDTV reviews   by Tanmay

TVs are one of the most interesting gadgets for a tech enthusiast like me. I have been following the TV market since a long a time and have tested lots of plasma and LCD TVs in my labs. I feel quite lucky and honored that all the manufacturers send me their products for testing. Apart from the HDTV reviews, I also write LCD Monitor Reviews. I am here writing about some of the best panels I have tested in my labs.

Sony Bravia KDL-52W5100 - This TV gives a very deep shade of black and this is a rare feature in TVs these days. The color accuracy is really good and I was particularly impressed by the extensive feature set of the Yahoo widgets. It includes Amazon Video On Demand and Netflix. If looks matter a lot to you, this TV will not disappoint, it has an attractive styling along with a thin bezel. Finally, there are plenty of connectivity options with four HDMI, one VGA and two component video ports. On the flipside, you have to pay for all these goodies. Yes, this TV is expensive as compared to other TVs in the market but then if you cannot compromise on quality, the big price tag won't matter to you.

Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 - I have reviewed lots of Lcd Computer Monitors and in my opinion, this product is the best amongst them. The price is low and the monitor is incredibly thin. I have never seen a slim monitor like this ever in my labs. Looks aside, the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 gives great performance too. There are a couple of flaws too though, this monitor doesn't have a lot of ergonomic features and the base too is quite wobbly.

NEC MultiSync PA271W - This computer monitor is made for professionals. The cost is $1,649 and I certainly won't recommend it for home use. The computer panel is feature rich and the picture quality is really stellar. The manufacturer uses IPS panel instead of traditional TN ones and this is the secret behind its better quality. The only disappointing feature here was the lack of HDMI port. This is certainly a turn off for videophiles since you get the best video quality through HDMI.

Samsung PN58C7000 - 3D TVs have finally arrived and they are now redefining home entertainment. Samsung sent me this panel for reviewing and I liked its excellent black level. The color accuracy overall was quite good and you also get tons of picture controls and tweaks. This TV is 3D compatible and the 3D movies looked great on it. However, the manufacturer doesn't include 3D glasses along with the TV so you will have to buy them separately. The cost of the glasses at the moment is $150 and you will have to buy at least two of them since you won't be watching the movies alone. On the bright side, I liked the widget and streaming content that the TV had to offer.
